Explore the Flavors of North Indian & Chinese food
Welcome to the official menu of Mom kitchen. Food is more than just sustenance; it is a story of culture, geography, and history. At Mom Kitchen, our menu is a carefully curated map of flavors that brings together the robust traditions of North India and the fiery, innovative spirit of Indo-Chinese cuisine. Whether you are craving the smoky aroma of a Tandoori Kebab or the spicy kick of Schezwan Noodles, our kitchen is dedicated to providing an authentic and memorable dining experience.
The Royal Heritage of North Indian Cuisine
North Indian food is world-renowned for its rich textures, aromatic spices, and hearty portions. Its history is a fascinating tapestry woven through centuries of Persian, Mughal, and local Punjabi influences.
Historically, the North Indian kitchen—especially the Mughlai style—was born in the royal courts. The use of saffron, dried fruits, and cream-based gravies was a sign of opulence. At our Food restaurant, we honor this heritage through our Mughlai and Punjabi specialties. Our gravies are slow-cooked to ensure that the spices—cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves—seep deep into the ingredients, creating a symphony of taste.
A cornerstone of our North Indian menu is the Tandoor. The clay oven tradition dates back thousands of years to the Harappan civilization, but it was perfected in the dhabas of Punjab. When you order our Chicken Pahadi Kabab or Paneer Tikka, you are tasting a cooking method that uses intense heat to lock in juices while providing that unmistakable charred flavor. From buttery Naans to rich Dal Khichdi Tadka, our North Indian selection is designed to offer the comfort of a home-cooked meal with the finesse of professional culinary art.
The Bold Fusion: The Rise of Indo-Chinese Food
While traditional Chinese food is subtle and focused on natural flavors, the “Chinese” food loved across India is a unique beast altogether. Known as Indo-Chinese or Hakka-style Chinese, this cuisine originated in the streets of Kolkata in the late 19th century, created by the Chinese community that settled there.
They adapted their traditional cooking techniques—like stir-frying in a wok (the “Hakka” style)—to suit the Indian palate, which craves bold, spicy, and tangy notes. This gave birth to legendary dishes like Chicken Lollipop,Manchow Soup, and the ever-popular Schezwan Noodles.
At Mom Kitchen, our Chinese section is a tribute to this fusion. We use high-quality soy sauce, vinegar, and our signature fiery Schezwan paste to create dishes that provide an instant “umami” explosion. Whether it’s the crunch of a Veg Crispy or the comforting warmth of Chicken Hakka Noodles, our Indo-Chinese dishes are prepared with high-flame “Wok Hei” (breath of the wok) to ensure every bite is smoky and delicious.
Beyond the Classics: Seafood and Local Specialties
Being situated in the heart of the region, our food reraurant also takes immense pride in its Seafood and Aagri/Malvani influences. The coastal history of Maharashtra has gifted us with incredible techniques for cooking fish. Our Surmai Tawa Fry and Chicken Kolhapuri reflect the local love for “Thet” (authentic) spice levels and fresh catches.
The Aagri and Malvani styles are known for their use of dry coconut, triphal, and specialized masalas that differ significantly from the creamy North Indian style. This diversity makes our menu a complete culinary destination—from the mountains of the North to the coasts of the West, and across the borders to the East.
